Integrative Oncology Aims To Support Optimal Health

Why this resource is helpful:

Quoted From: https://pacificintegrativeonc.com/what-is-integrative-oncology/

"In addition to conventional treatment for cancer, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy, Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) support people diagnosed with cancer through survivorship. They provide evidence-based guidance on the safe and effective use of natural and supportive therapies when combined with conventional treatment.
Integrative oncology aims to support optimal health and well-being of cancer patients: physically, mentally, and emotionally. The goals of integrative oncology are to help improve the patient"s quality of life, manage their side effects, help speed up recovery, prevent recurrence, and educate patients and their families about a healthy lifestyle.
Within this model of care, all providers work together to improve the quality of life for their patients. Patients benefit from a coordinated approach to care; their ND collaborates with other providers at the time of diagnosis to prepare the patient for what lies ahead, during active treatment, and during post-treatment to help with recovery.
You may also hear integrative oncology referred to as complementary cancer care, as well as functional medicine."
