The idea behind it is when we release the charge, we can think of the thing that happened, and even though we don't like it, we will not feel uneasy. There will be more of a neutral or peaceful feeling, in spite of the situation.Emotions have a positive intent and purpose. Fear is to keep us safe. Anger is to let us know a line has been crossed. Sadness tells us that something important to us has been lost. They are like warning signs on our dashboard. Once the need has been attended to, the signal can turn off. We are able to let go of the disproportionate fear or sadness, while still being able to feel appropriately fearful or sad when needed."
