"Acupuncture and herbal medicine is able to help women of all stages of life including: young teenagers who are experiencing menstrual pain, PMS or not having a cycle; women who are trying to overcome infertility or having troublesome cycles due to fibroids or endometriosis; menopausal women experiencing hot flashes, night sweat and moodiness.
Chinese medicine works to generates sufficient vital energy (called Qi) and blood to help nourish a woman and help her remain vital and vibrant. It also focuses on three particular organs. The first organ is the kidney, a source of essence inherited from parents. If essence is insufficient, or consumed by high stress and low amounts of rest, it can disturb a women"s cycle and even cause infertility.
The second is the liver, which helps maintain a free flow of Qi and blood. This organ is also susceptible to the stress of modern life and may lead to stagnation of Qi and blood, which may cause menstrual pain, irregular menses or infertility. The last is the spleen, which is an important organ to produce Qi and blood. When the spleen is deficient, it can cause amenorrhea or heavy bleeding as well as infertility.
One study conducted at a fertility clinic in Denmark found that the pregnancy rate was significantly higher when women received acupuncture compared to a control group who receive no acupuncture. The research concluded that acupuncture improved the outcome of in vitro fertilization."
