"The Flash Technique is a fairly new and very effective therapy approach. Similar to EMDR, the Flash Technique helps to reduce the disturbance level of an upsetting memory. What makes Flash so effective is the way it reduces distress in a non-threatening and painless way. The Flash Technique is often used prior to addressing a disturbing memory with EMDR as a way to decrease the distress of the memory and thus make it easier to work with. EMDR therapists have long used therapy techniques to lessen the disturbance of difficult trauma memories to make those memories less distressing to work with. The Flash Technique is very effective for that purpose."
