THERAPY IS ABOUT HELPING COUPLES CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER

Why this resource is helpful:

Quoted From: http://www.drjenjees.com/couples-therapy

"The Gottman approach is one that is both psycho-educational (encourages listening, understanding and support) and focuses on helping couples to emotionally connect while having conflict. The cultural lens in couples work, may address cultural issues/factors that play a role in the couple's life or conflict. As a couples therapist, I hope to create an environment where both members feel validated and we can focus on resolving the problems, or increasing the couple's understanding of the problem (and themselves in the problem). At this time I am only providing telepsychology. Consistent with the Gottman Method, couples therapy is contra-indicated in situations of a.) domestic violence (where it is clearly not situational) and b.) where one member is actively withholding (and unwilling to disclose) information that is contributing to the problem."
