Life is so complex ranging from experiences of joy and comfort to pain and suffering. Whether you are struggling with a life adjustment, are experiencing certain behaviors that you wish to change, or are in need of healing from trauma, anxiety, etc. therapy can be a useful tool to help you learn skills and process what you have been through. I believe that everyone is unique and has the ability to grow and change, sometimes we just need a little help to get there.

Through an Adlerian lens, which sees people as holistic beings who are affected by the people, environment, and society around you, we are able establish goals that help structure therapy, so it is most effective for you. I tailor therapy to each client and treat each person as the holistic being they are.

I provide a safe and non-judgmental space that will allow you to process and work through goals, so you are able to improve your quality of life and make changes that you have been wanting. I am here to support you and be an ally in your process of change.

I received my Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling and Addictions Counseling from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR which is accredited through CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs). I have additional education and training in gambling counseling, eating disorders, trauma, and dissociation work. I received an Eating Disorder Treatment Certificate from Lewis and Clark College and I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) by the EMDR Institute, which helps reduce and/or eliminate trauma symptoms.

In my free time, I enjoy taking walks with my dog, hiking, reading, doing puzzles, building Legos, spending time with my friends and family, and exploring new places in the Pacific Northwest. I am originally from Minnesota and the accent sneaks out from time to time.

1.) Some therapists are more comfortable addressing the immediate problem, while others want to focus on the deeper issue. Which are you?

It is important to me to give clients the options that they have in therapy such as modalities and strategies to meeting their goals, discussing the risks and benefits of each, and then allowing them to decide what is going to work the best. I am very comfortable addressing both the immediate problems and focusing on the deeper issues. I have found that addressing the deeper issues will commonly address the immediate problems, but deeper work is not for everyone.

2.) Do you tend to lead the session, or follow my lead?

It is important to me that therapy is collaborative and that we are working on the goals that are important to each client. I tend to be both a leader and follower in the therapeutic process as each therapeutic relationship is unique and there are times for both leading and following. I am comfortable structuring sessions to ensure that you are seeing change outside of the therapy room.

3.) What are your strengths as a therapist?

My strengths as a therapist include building rapport with clients, helping clients feel safe in the therapy room, and I provide a space that is free of judgement. It is important to me that therapy is a space that you feel safe to explore things that may otherwise be uncomfortable or difficult. An additional strength that I possess is helping clients stay present in the session and learn how to ground themselves outside of session.

4.) If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?

If I had a superpower it would be teleportation so that I could step up my self-care game. I love travelling, seeing new things, and soaking up the sun. I would love to teleport myself all over the world to go on some great vacations on my weekend off and save a ton on airline tickets.

5.) What makes you laugh?

Oh, so much makes me laugh! Some of my favorites are my funny family and friends with great senses of humor, watching live news bloopers on YouTube, hearing a good dad joke, or enjoying stand-up comedy.
