"I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma-related problems (like relationship problems, difficulties regulating emotions), and life-adjustment issues (life transitions, aging, loneliness, caregiving, etc.). In addition to cognitive-behavioral therapy in general, I have expertise in Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and behavioral activation therapy (for depression and PTSD). I integrate acceptance-based interventions and skills as needed, such as mindfulness, validation, and radical acceptance.
My approach is grounded in cognitive-behavioral theorymeaning I view all difficulties as related to one"s unique history and circumstances (as well as biological make-up), and I view growth as coming from opportunities to have new learning and experiences. I rely on evidence-based approachesmeaning I utilize approaches that have the strongest research support and also carefully evaluate the impact of therapy on each person"s problems and goals (and make adjustments as needed). I value a strong and genuine therapy relationship and strive to be authentic, transparent, and kind, as well as irreverent and funny when called for!
